Summery
Mashhad Daqiq is a large-scale WordPress website specializing in industrial measurement and instrumentation equipment, with thousands of products and articles.
During my three-month collaboration, my role has focused on technical WordPress development, server and security configuration, performance optimization, UX improvements, and SEO.
Because the website is built on an existing customized WordPress theme with limited customization capabilities, the project required a combination of Elementor development and technical/code-based solutions.
Rather than replacing the existing architecture, I have focused on improving the website incrementally while preserving its large existing product and content structure.
Challenge
Working Within an Existing Custom Theme
One of the main challenges was working with a highly customized WordPress theme that provides limited options for visual customization. Many elements could not be modified directly through Elementor and required technical or code-based solutions.
Large-Scale Content Structure
The website contains thousands of products and articles. As a result, large-scale changes such as replacing the theme or rebuilding the website require careful planning to avoid disrupting the existing content structure.
Performance
The website had several performance-related issues, including poor compression configuration, heavy images and suboptimal caching settings.
Balancing Improvement with Stability
Instead of performing a risky full redesign, the project focuses on incremental technical and UX improvements while preserving the existing architecture.
My Responsibilities
- Configured and deployed SSL through aaPanel on the website’s dedicated cloud server.
- Used SSH for server-level troubleshooting and technical administration.
- Diagnosed and resolved issues affecting the website’s existing header.
- Designed and implemented a new responsive header using Elementor.
- Worked within a highly customized WordPress theme with limited built-in customization options.
- Implemented Elementor-based solutions where possible and used technical/code-based adjustments where the existing theme restricted visual customization.
- Created a dedicated Single Article template using Elementor to improve article presentation and readability.
- Redesigned the Contact Us page.
- Improved the mobile presentation of the website, including the full-width mobile slider/banner layout.
- Worked on website performance and caching configuration.
- Optimized website images to reduce unnecessary page weight.
- Improved compression-related settings, including the previous GZIP configuration issue.
- Continued optimizing caching and front-end performance.
- Improved the website’s current performance to approximately Grade C, with further optimization still ongoing.
- Worked on the technical preparation for displaying product prices in USD.
- Personally manage the SEO strategy while also leading and training an SEO team working on the website’s products and articles.
- Review, guide and support the team in improving product and article SEO.
Technologies Used
Solution
I adopted a gradual optimization strategy rather than replacing the existing theme or rebuilding the website from scratch.
The first stage focused on resolving technical issues, including SSL configuration through aaPanel and server-level troubleshooting using SSH.
I then addressed key front-end problems by replacing the problematic header with a new Elementor-based header, improving the Contact Us page and creating a dedicated article template.
For performance, I worked on caching configuration, image optimization and compression-related settings. These changes have significantly improved the site’s performance compared with its initial state, with further optimization still in progress.
Alongside the technical work, I manage the SEO process and supervise an SEO team responsible for improving the site’s extensive product and article content.
